The dressing table, or dresser as it is also known, is the perfect companion to any feminine bedroom or dressing room. Often finished in light tones such as white or cream, and topped off with a beautiful mirror, these tables are often the home of scores of makeup and beauty products.

Owning a piece of furniture specifically for make-up and hairstyles may sound a bit old fashioned to some, but that's what makes the charm of dressing tables. They exudes old-fashioned glamour, and are something decadent and very feminine. Together with the right lighting and of course, the right seating, we can comfortably relax and enjoy the time in which we spend making ourselves look nice. Today, on homify, you can find the right tips and tricks for setting up the perfect vanity table in your home.

Despite the fact it is monochrome, this is most colourful dresser in this series. A black and white dresser, does however, have its advantages. First, it adapts to many different interiors styles, without being too playful or strong. Our tip: bring flowers in bright colours like pink or red to add bold accents to this sleek dresser!

Elegant dresser

A white dressing table is definitely an absolute classic, with this model looking elegant and purist. Seven drawers provide more than enough space for the storage of cosmetics, hair products, jewelry and accessories. To complete the look, a few tea lights in jam jars and a small bouquet of flowers have been added. Therefore, the overall picture is extremely neat, yet romantic and playful.

The best place for a dresser, is laterally adjacent to, or directly in front of a window. This is because natural light conditions do not distort the colours of make-up and that mean no nasty surprises when you leave the house!

Romantic dresser

Of course, you can very easily make a dresser up in a romantic style. This is actually quite easy to achieve; you just need to select a shabby chic, baroque or curved vanity table in a soft blush tone. To further these feelings, you can add charming feminine features like nicely packaged make-up items, perfume bottles or ornate combs, for example. Fresh flowers, candles and a hand mirror give more decorative and romantic impulses to this elegant scene.

Mirror, mirror

Without a mirror, a dressing table is absolutely not complete. Often it makes sense to place a larger mirror on the wall, and a small cosmetic mirror on the table. This means we can observe every inch of detail from both afar and up close. Some dressers come with a built-in, titling mirror and can be adjusted depending on the size of the person and their needs. It is also a great idea if you get a mirror with in-built lamps. This creates the perfect lighting for you to perfectly apply your makeup both at night and in the morning.

Ideal storage

When we talk about dressing tables, we need to address the perfect storage. For as most women know, we accumulate many beauty products over the years: powder, mascara, blush, lip gloss and lipstick, hair spray, hand cream, styling products and more jewelry to our daily repertoire.

There are two possibilities: either we put everything away neatly in drawers, if we're lucky, with a special drawer insert which separates our brushes, pencils, and tubes properly. Or, we present our beauty products fashionably on the dressing table. For example, in these golden bowls. If you keep everything you own out in plain sight, you can be sure that you are not accumulating duplicate products, or stashing away expired chemicals.
