If you love classical architecture, but still want a comfortable modern home, then today's project is going to be right up your alley. The house's design is inspired by traditional East Asian architecture, but with a modern twist. Its long structure wraps around a stunning courtyard and garden making this the perfect place for al fresco dining, inside however the house has been decorated in a decidedly contemporary style, with vibrant colours and modern fittings.

It's this blend of the past and present that makes this project so special. While outside you could easily imagine life in ancient times, step inside and you'll find all of the conveniences of a modern home. This unique vision has been executed to perfection by the architects and interior decorators, providing inspiration for our own ambitious projects, so let's take a tour and see exactly what they've done!

From above

Nestled in lush mountains in the countryside you'll find this magnificent home. Though the structure and colour scheme are classical in style, the home has been made from modern materials to ensure it is warm and dry. The garden is a large plot of arable land, ready for the owners to plant what every they wish, and at that size you could feed the whole neighbourhood!

The courtyard

The courtyard features several different seating arrangements, this home was obviously designed with the summer months in mind! At the back entrance to the house you'll find a covered dining area, while in the foreground we can see a casual seating arrangement built from timber and brick and surrounding a fire pit, so you can keep the party going long after the sun sets.

The living room

The interior makes a break from the chocolate brown found outside, and features a variety of fun, vibrant colours that really bring the decor to life. In the living room it's this fantastic summery yellow in the window box, an interesting twist on the feature wall concept, that complements the laminate flooring, and makes the white of the walls feel brighter. This home is full of innovative design solutions that make the most of the narrow space, such as that window seat which is actually just a bookshelf with cushions on top!

The kitchen

The kitchen features convenient modern fittings, and is big enough for a large family, with a kitchen island, and plenty of cabinet space that allows them to keep the countertop clear for food preparation. What's really interesting though is the contrast in styles between the kitchen and the dining room. The kitchen is super contemporary, with a giant, and very practical stainless steel fridge, but cross into the dining room and you'll find a bright red vintage drinks fridge to match the more casual decor there.

The dining room

The dining room is cut off from the corridor by windows, allowing plenty of light flow into the room, and ensuring it doesn't feel cramped, while still cutting off noise, a great idea for parents who like to host dinner parties. The table is arranged with box seats on one side, and antique wooden chairs on the other, and the pastel green colour palette looks fun and relaxing.

The master bedroom

Having a long narrow structure allows for windows in every room of the house, ensuring this a really light and bright and home, especially with that triangular window at the top that catches the last of the sunlight. The mater bedroom features a red window box with a bookshelf seat like we saw in the living room. The elegant lamp shades really finish this room off, giving it a more intimate air.

The kid's room

There's nothing more fun for kids than a mezzanine bed, but it's also a great way to save space, allowing for desks down below for the kids to do their homework, as well as an adorable miniature piano.

What an amazing house, full of great space saving ideas, and a comforting, homely decor. For more inspiration check out this elegant apartment!
