Any home on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea might seem highly sought after. Yet, some of these structures have existed here for many hundreds of years. Therefore, they need lots of tender love and care to be brought up to modern speed. All of this is totally worth it once the hard work is done and you can kick back and enjoy gorgeous views and sunshine.

Today on homify360 we will be checking out a seaside conversion in Valencia by the design team at Selecta Home. Here, an old beach side condo has been renovated and fitted out with clean, simple furnishings for a fantastic outcome. In particular, the space is now modern and sophisticated. Still, the charm of the original home is maintained in the outdoor patio and façade while all other out dated elements have been cast out. It’s the ideal breezy abode for anyone looking for an escape to seaside paradise. Come with us on a tour of this lovely little home by the sea.

Rustic facade

From the façade it is clear that the home possesses much of the rustic charm of this area of the world. It also helps us to understand the contrast between the home’s condition before and after renovation. On the right hand side, the materials are updated to reveal richer tones details and enlarged windows. The efforts were certainly worth it for the view of the sea from the condo.

Nothing but contemporary

The home’s interior is certainly quite different from it’s former self. In this way the design team has kept enough aesthetic charm to make the home feel relevant to its Mediterranean setting whilst still being comfortable and accommodating to those who live here. The interior is configured in an elongated layout, which makes each area flow naturally into the next. The dark wooden tones and built-in flat screen TV are testament to the updated, modern look.

Sleek and stylish dining room

The dining area is quite sophisticated. The elegant curving metal in the chairs coordinates nicely with the bespoke pendulum lamps hanging overhead. The shining silver subway tiles used in the kitchen backsplash sparkle like the scales of a fish. Together, the shapes of the furnishing and the sparkle of the tiles have an ocean-inspired feel to them.

Simple and modern master bedroom

The master bedroom is soft and simple the way a beach house bedroom ought to be. Still it is adorned with high ceilings, modern style dark wood, and recessed lights. The result is a generally updated look that brings the room up to contemporary standards. The golden hues of the lamps and accent pillow coordinate well with the flooring and bedspread.

Serene patio: the highlight of the home

We saved one of the best parts of the renovation for last: the backyard patio. This space is complete with an outdoor shower and functional stove. All of this is enveloped in the privacy of the surrounding white plaster walls. This is the ideal spot to enjoy a meal with company as the fire illuminates the brick stove in a gorgeous orange glow that contrasts the blue sky at dusk.
