Xul Architecture was commissioned to develop this project in North West London.
The main objective was to refurbish the whole property and incorporate an open plan layout where possible. Achieving this enhanced the fluidity of light through each room, opening up the spaces and making them feel as one.
The works included the construction of a ground floor side extension, the formation of new bedrooms located on the upper floors and the conversion of the existing loft into a habitable room.
The open plan rooms on the ground floor surround the staircase, which in turn acts as a screen to help incorporate privacy to the necessary rooms.
Our aspiration for all projects is to introduce natural light through design, this was achieved by installing a light tunnel in the first floor’s bathroom. The light tunnel helped to reflect natural light into this dark room, where not possible before, and accentuate the contempory design elements. The use of materials light in colour was also a contributor to this factor.
Xul transformed this property into a stylish modern house by brightening up the property and producing comfortable spaces. Have a look to this and many other of our residential projects on the link below: http://xularchitecture.co.uk/residential-projects
