The name Macalister Mansion honours Penang’s British Governor Colonel Norman Macalister and you will find numerous references to this historic figure captured in the a host of specially commissioned installation art pieces throughout the grounds and spaces. Featuring 8 luxurious guestrooms and 4 bespoke F&Bs, this boutique hotel has been included in Conde Nast Traveler’s prestigious Hot List of World’s Best New Hotels, 2013. The editors spent 10 months selecting the top 154 from 1000 hotels, evaluating style, location, service and chic; Macalister Mansion scored full marks, getting 3 out of 3 stars. Macalister Mansion has also been chosen by Travel + Leisure for the 2013 Best New Hotels “It List” as 1 of 63 international hotels (the only one from Malaysia), and featured in Destinasian’s 2013 Luxe List. “Colin’s role as a visionary has provided the project with an important overarching concept to tie the whole project together.
