For this project, a garden studio located in Johannesburg, two existing containers (clocking in at 6m in length) were converted into a single structure.
Natural timber is used for cladding up the containers’ exterior façades. This ensures a rich, warm appearance while also giving the garden studio some delicious texture and pattern.
A cosy little patio is attached to the front of the studio, offering up comfortable legroom for relaxing / socialising, plus additional furniture pieces.
One of the best advantages of container structures is the amount of time saved in terms of design and delivery. This project was no exception, and both containers were quickly and effectively prefabricated and assembled on site.
First-rate insulation and wallboards were used to line the interior spaces. A skylight joins up the two containers while also helping to usher in a generous dose of natural light into the space (along with the new windows and glass doors).
Similar to the exteriors, the interior surfaces underwent some creative designing in order to make them more visually pleasing. Thus, Eggplant purple and Cloud grey ensure wonderful contrast while also adding some character to the new garden studio, which can function successfully as an art workspace.
Adequate legroom was ensured for additional pieces such as furniture, workstations, etc.
Awning windows were added to the back to ensure extra natural light floods indoors.
Full-size glass sliding doors in the front of the studio bring in buckets of sunshine as well as a lush garden view.
